CROESO CYNNES/ A WARM WELCOME
On behalf of the governors, staff and children, I take great pleasure in welcoming you and your family to our school website. It is the first step in forming that important link between home and school. The information it contains will enable us to work together, INSPIRING AMBITION so that are children achieve their very best now and in the future.
Our school has approximately 220 pupils divided into two phases. The first of these is the Foundation Phase comprising of the Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. The second phase is the “Juniors” or Key Stage 2, which comprises of Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.
The school serves the villages of Ynyswen, Penyrenglyn and Treherbert. The present building was opened in 2003 to replace the former Penyrenglyn Junior and Infant schools. Following the closure of Treherbert Infants School in 2006 all pupils elected to transfer to the school and in 2014 the majority of pupils at Ynyswen Infants School transferred to Penyrenglyn following its closure in the summer term.
The school provides many excellent facilities including large, bright airy classrooms, a large multi-purpose hall, library, a range of Information Technology (IT) resources, extensive grounds with canopied areas, outdoor learning facilities with access to the adjacent Baglan Sports Field. The school also has a designated Forest School site in the neighbouring woodlands. The children also benefit from a new nurture room.
Our curriculum offers our pupils rich and exciting learning opportunities and inspires them to do their very best. Every child is different and their individuality is valued, respected and celebrated in our school community.
I am sure you will find our website useful in learning more about Penyrenglyn Primary and please feel free to contact the school directly with any further queries. Prospective parents are most welcome to contact us to arrange a visit.
